Why escape rooms make a perfect birthday

The birthday kid is the hero — they pick the room, lead the team, and solve the final puzzle. Parents get an activity with no cleanup. Friends get a story to retell all week. And because our rooms are on W Amerige Ave, you’re three minutes from pizza, ice cream, and boba for the after-party.

Pick your room

The Magic Cottage — a magical mystery adventure. Ideal for kids’ birthdays (ages 10+), family birthdays, and groups who want puzzles over scares. The most-booked kids’ birthday room in Orange County.

The Zombie Lab — a horror-thriller. Recommended for ages 13+ and teens who want to be scared. Perfect for a “sweet 16 meets scream queen” birthday or 21st-birthday adrenaline.

Kids’ birthday parties (ages 10–14)

  • Book The Magic Cottage — friendly difficulty, no scares.
  • Recommended group size: 6 kids + 1–2 parents.
  • Arrive 15 minutes early — we’ll do a quick group photo of the birthday kid at the “start” board.
  • After the game, walk to Jaxon’s Chix Tenders, Big Slice Pizza, Milk & Cookies, or SomiSomi on W Amerige Ave for cake and treats — all kid-friendly and within a block.

Teen + adult birthdays (ages 15+)

  • Book either room — or both back-to-back for competitive teams.
  • Groups of 7–8 work best for the full “team solves it together” dynamic.
  • Zombie Lab is popular for Halloween-adjacent birthdays.

Milestone birthdays (21, 30, 40)

Add dinner reservations at Matador Cantina, Roscoe’s, or Bootlegger’s Brewery next door, then end the night with the escape room. Ask us about custom messaging on the “Congratulations” reveal inside the room — we can drop the birthday name into the game’s final surprise.

How booking works

  1. Choose a date + time. Weekend slots book 2–3 weeks out.
  2. Pick the room. Unsure? Call us and we’ll match it to the age group.
  3. Pay per player — $37/player (3-7 players) or $90 flat for 2 players. Minimum 4 players to book.
  4. Add a decorated room request if you want (signs, balloons, birthday reveal).

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s the youngest age?
We recommend 10+. Younger kids (8–9) can join if the group includes a parent and we play the easier Magic Cottage path.

Can we bring a cake?
We don’t have a dedicated party room, but Downtown Fullerton has cake-friendly restaurants a block away. Many families do escape room → cake at Gelato Paradiso.

Do you do gift cards?
Yes — see our gift cards page. Great for last-minute birthday presents.

What if not everyone shows up?
You pay per-player, so a no-show doesn’t charge you. But the full group is more fun — puzzles are designed for 5–6 active players.

Is it too scary for a 10-year-old?
The Magic Cottage is not scary. The Zombie Lab is — we don’t recommend it for under 13.
